The best young defender of the Bundesliga Benjamin Henrichs (21) of Bayer Leverkusen’s career should continue in Chelsea, the British media reported on Wednesday.
Henrich plays the right-hand side, but he can play in the midfield, and the deal with Leverkusen is until the summer of 2022.
However, he can leave the club if someone pays 35 million euros in compensation, how much is a redemption clause, and Chelsea is ready to do it.
Henrichs has already played 50 games for Bayer since 2015, and has recorded three appearances for the German national team.
The German will thus be the first Chelsea boost for the next season, which shows the clear intention of the club’s leaders to prepare for new challenges.
However, it is not yet known who will be the new coach of the London team because Antonio Conte is on the exit door, and the candidates are Maurizio Sarri from Napoli and Julian Nagelsmann from Hoffenheim.
